SMART KIDS – A learner-centred pedagogical method based on the concept of Smart City
The SMART KIDS project is aiming at developing a complementary educational module of teaching for young people between 10 and 14 years that will apply a learner-‐centred approach in order to promote science and technology. This more participative method will enable the students to engage and motivate them toward science, and, above all to interiorize the competences of several scientific subjects, to develop thinking skills and, to boost their creativity, inquiry, problem solving and other transversal skills. The educational module established in the framework of the SMART KIDS project will be based on the concept of Smart City and its multidisciplinary perspective that favors the entrepreneurship of professionals and hustles the development of scientific subjects such as TIC, physical, mathematics, engineering, and architecture. Therefore, the SMART KIDS learning module will introduce students to concepts in science, technology, and engineering with a focus on urban planning and sustainability.
